The Very Hot Weather Warning is now in force.The Hong Kong Observatory

 The Very Hot Weather Warning is now in force.The Hong Kong Observatory is forecasting very hot weather in Hong Kong tomorrow. The risk of heatstroke is high.  When engaged in outdoor work or activities, do drink plenty of water and avoid over exertion. If not feeling well, take a rest in the shade or cooler place as soon as possible.  People staying indoors without air-conditioning should keep windows open as far as possible to ensure that there is adequate ventilation.  The Hong Kong Observatory advises that prolonged exposure under sunlight is to be avoided. Loose clothing, suitable hats and UV-absorbing sunglasses can reduce the chance of sunburn by solar ultraviolet radiation.  Swimmers and those taking part in outdoor activities should use a sunscreen lotion of SPF 15 or above, and should re-apply it frequently. Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 260300 UTC, Tropical Storm Ketsana (0916) with central pressure 994 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one five point five degrees north (15.5 N) one two two point one degrees east (122.1 E) and is forecast to move west at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

Forecast position and intensity at 270300 UTC
One five point nine degrees north (15.9 N)
One one six point five degrees east (116.5 E)
Maximum winds 45 knots.

Forecast position and intensity at 280300 UTC
One five point eight degrees north (15.8 N)
One one three point eight degrees east (113.8 E)
Maximum winds 55 knots.

Forecast position and intensity at 290300 UTC
One six point five degrees north (16.5 N)
One one zero point nine degrees east (110.9 E)

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about two hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public. Average errors in the 24, 48 and 72-hour forecast positions are of the order of 150, 250 and 350 kilometres respectively.

Severe Tropical Storm Koppu (0915) has weakened into a Tropical Storm with central pressure 988 hectopascals. At 150600 UTC, it was centred within 60 nautical miles of two two point four degrees north (22.4 N) one one zero point seven degrees east (110.7 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 11 knots for the next 24 hours.Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.Radius of over 33 knot winds 40 nautical miles.Radius of over 2 metre waves 150 nautical miles.No further warnings on this Tropical Storm will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless it re-enters the Hong Kong area of responsibility.Forecast position and intensity at 160600 UTCTwo three point eight degrees north (23.8 N)One zero seven point one degrees east (107.1 E)Maximum winds 30 knots.Forecast position and intensity at 170600 UTC

 香 港 天 文 台 發 出 最 新 熱 帶 氣 旋 警 告   八 號 東 南 烈 風 或 暴 風 信 號 , 現 正 生 效 。   表 示 本 港 吹 東 南 風 , 平 均 風 速 每 小 時 超 過 62 公 里 。    在 上 午 7 時 , 颱 風 巨 爵 集 結 在 香 港 之 西 南 偏 西 約 200  公 里 , 即 在 北 緯 21.9 度 , 東 經 112.3 度 附 近 , 預 料 向  西 北 偏 西 移 動 , 時 速 約 20 公 里 , 即 將 在 台 山 至 陽 江  之 間 登 陸 。   本 港 多 處 地 方 仍 吹 東 南 烈 風 。   在 過 去 一 小 時 , 長 洲 及 啟 德 分 別 錄 得 的 最 高 持 續 風  速 為 每 小 時 73 及 72 公 里 , 最 高 陣 風 分 別 為 每 小 時 96  及 98 公 里 。   隨 著 巨 爵 繼 續 遠 離 香 港 , 天 文 台 會 考 慮 在 上 午 十 時  左 右 改 發 三 號 強 風 信 號 。   八 號 烈 風 或 暴 風 信 號 - 防 風 措 施 報 告 :   1. 因 為 海 面 有 非 常 大 浪 , 水 流 湍 急 且 方 向 不 定 , 市  民 應 該 遠 離 岸 邊 及 停 止 所 有 水 上 活 動 。   2. 香 港 國 際 機 場 的 航 班 可 能 受 到 天 氣 影 響 。 旅 客 前  往 機 場 前 , 請 先 向 航 空 公 司 查 詢 航 班 情 況 。   3. 熱 帶 氣 旋 雖 然 開 始 吹 離 本 港 , 但 仍 有 一 段 時 間 吹  烈 風 , 各 位 請 留 在 室 內 直 至 風 力 減 弱 為 止 , 以 策 安  全 。 在 任 何 情 況 下 , 切 勿 接 觸 被 風 吹 倒 的 電 線 。   4. 有 些 地 方 仍 然 吹 烈 風 及 狂 風 , 切 勿 鬆 懈 防 風 措 施  。   5. 有 關 最 新 天 氣 消 息 , 請 留 意 電 台 或 電 視 台 在 每 小  時 的 十 五 分 、 三 十 分 、 四 十 五 分 及 五 十 八 分 的 廣 播 , 或 瀏 覽 香 港 天 文 台 網 頁 。   以 上 天 氣 稿 由 天 文 台 於 2009 年 09 月 15 日 06 時 45 分 發 出
